Margaret Barrett F.A.O.I Dip Opt qualified in 1985 and opened her own shop in Cabra in June 1985. Margaret concentrates on providing a family-friendly service to all. She even has 4 generations of the same family coming as customers.
Margaret and her staff concentrate on children, taking time to give them correctly fitting spectacles or contact lenses as ill-fitting glasses can affect vision. Margaret also specialises in testing children especially those with reading and/or learning difficulties and she works with educational psychologists to investigate if any of their difficulties can be helped with eye exercises, glasses or specially coloured lenses. For children Margaret can conduct a ninety minute one-off in depth assessment to investigate not just their vision but their eye muscle balance and eye dominance. The correction of any such imbalance can dramatically improve tracking and/or reading speeds and accuracy.
Her team which consists of:
Jennifer Smith - Practice Manager; Linda Fitzpatrick - Senior Optical Assistant and VDU Screening Manager; Olivia O'Dwyer - Accounts and Administration Manager; Orla Cunningham FAOI guarantee to help you chose the correctly fitting frame and lenses to suit your requirements and will advise you on tints, thinner and lighter lenses, or frames: varifocal, bifocal or contact lenses. They use techniques from behavioural optometry to diagnose and treat reading difficulties.
Margaret is also a founding member and former past President of the Irish Contact Lens Society and is currently their vice-President. This society organises lectures and demonstrations to all contact lens fitters - educating them on new products and the latest investigation techniques, which Margaret and her team attend.
She is currently a member of the optometrists' professional governing body and is proud to abide by its Code of Ethics and Rules governing investigation and treatment of any member of the public.
