We are sponsoring athlete Damien Vereker in his journey to Rio, Brazil as a visually impaired cyclist.

Damien was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa when he was 17. He has loss of central vision, total night blindness, total colour blindness and loss of peripheral vision. He also uses a long mobility cane to navigate himself

Since 1997, Damien has created a long list of achievements within his athletic career. He receives no government funding to take part in competitions. He is funded by himself and a local Para Cycling club.

Here at Barrett Opticians we’ve decided to support and follow the progress of Damien Vereker as he is an inspiration to those who are also visually impaired.
